2023 G. frondosa

$27.00

Marzae Sauvage wines are inspired by the edible flora & fauna of New England. G. frondosa (Blue Huckleberry) is perhaps one of the most uniquely “Massachusetts” fruits with its native range coincidentally quite concentrated with the state. Easily confused with wild blueberries, it’s just as tasty. There’s a bit of mimicry going on with this wine too because even though it shares many characteristics with a juicy pinot noir, or perhaps even a fruit forward Rhone blend, it is in fact made entirely of grapes better suited to our climate in the northeast! Yeah, it’d probably be delicious with some oak, but that’s not what we were going for—this is a crushable, chillable red with bright fruit, vibrant acidity, and exciting depth.

This wine was very stubborn about showing any signs of malolactic fermentation, requiring >7 months aging before sulfiting to .4ppm molecular sulfur before bottling.
